Ruaha National Park

Situated in the centre of the country, the second largest National Park is bordered by the Ruaha River and offers spectacular view points. From July to December the wildlife is concentrated on the banks of the river and around the watering-holes. You will see herds of elephants, giraffes, prides of lions and Great Kudus without moving from the banks. The setting is exceptionally well preserved.

Best time: from June to February.

How to get there: from Dar es Salaam, 8-hour drive or 1h 30-charter flight.

To do: walking safaris with a ranger and 4 wheel rive safaris.

Do not miss: a relaxing afternoon watching the wildlife through binoculars on the banks of the river. Near Iringa, a stop in prehistoric Isimila where you will find impressive natural red earth pillars eroded by the centuries.
